Just recalled into Dungeon Level 100 (neither Morgoth nor Sauron are dead) onto a down stairs. I am using rods of recall in case that matters.

What options (if any) are you using?

This seems to be a recurring bug that I've never seen myself...

I have the following options on:

        UI Options:
        pickup_inven
        notify_recharge
        disturb_near
        show_damage
        show_target
        hp_changes_color

        Birth Options:
        birth_keep_randarts
        birth_no_selling

        Cheat Options:

I am playing a dwarf rogue. I backed up my save of right after I went down the stairs to dungeon level 100 if you want me to post it.

What version of the game are you using? 3.5?
takkaria whispers something about options. -more-

I don't think it's related to any option. Was the type of level special? A cavern level? Labyrinth?

I know that on labyrinths, the player is placed before stairs are allocated whereas it's the opposite on caverns and default levels.

I'm pretty sure caverns and labyrinths are forbidden on quest levels, so you shouldn't be able to get one on 99 with Sauron still alive.

I do not recall what type of level it was. I was getting beat up by some unique so I ran down the nearest stairs and realized I had been on level 99 when I saw Morgoth.

I ran into and reported this bug once while playing the 3.5 development version and found downstairs on both dl99 and dl100 with Sauron and Morgoth still alive. I ran even deeper and found that Sauron and Morgoth were not always generated, so I ran all the way to the bottom, dl127, teleporting away the big bosses whenever they did get generated. Drops and finds were fantastic down that deep and I soon had gear making @ as powerful as Morgie himself. The One Ring, included! I also had a cloak with pStun, so when I did kill Morgoth I wore his crown and had perfect resistance and protection to everything. I've never seen the bug again, but it sure was fun!

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Fun and often frustrating fact: the final Mage book doesn't even come into depth until at/below level 100.

False! It enters native depth at 4500' (level 90). Even if it was native to level 100, you could still find it inside a vault without passing out-of-depth checks since vaults can have items up to 40 levels out-of-depth. Unlikely, but a hell of a lot more likely than just finding it on the floor out-of-depth.

Yeah, I knew about finding it in Vaults (that's where I usually look). I thought it was d100. Oops.

Doesn't prevent from getting it from Maggot in town

Priest WoG used to be dlvl 100 item. Raal's when that was still the last book was dlvl 90 though, and Kelek's kept that depth when they swapped positions.
