    Damage or Telepathy

    So....

my Half-Troll Paladin has the option of Aglarang, which gives me 231 damage to all enemies and +5 speed; or Tulwar of *Slay Evil*, which gives 104 damage to evil creatures, 90 to others, +1 wisdom and telepathy.

Normally I'd favour telepathy over melee damage; but the huge difference here means I favour Aglarang currently.

You could also swap between the two as required: i.e. have telepathy on except when actually attacking non-trivial things. Only problem is if your Tulwar gets destroyed by elemental attack.

Aglarang is absolutely the right weapon to use here for fighting, since it's doing on the order of three times as much damage as the Tulwar (assuming you'd otherwise be at +0 speed).

Carry the Tulwar as a swap. It's a bit tedious to switch weapons in and out, but as a Paladin you want the improvement to your monster detection skills. Once you get Godly Insights you can probably ditch the Tulwar even if you don't have a replacement source of ESP, if the swapping is too much bother.
