    special feelings/artifacts not preserved

I'm really starting to like special feelings, and not preserving artifacts, does anybody else feel this way?
I like the fact that you have to "work" to find out what's on that level, and not simply ignore it when the going gets bad because you know that if you play enough chances are you will get a chance at finding that artifact again, if you play with preserve on. It also makes end game selection of equipment choices different depending on how lucky your game has been..how many people play with artifacts not preserved?

When I'm feeling masochistic I play O with no_preserve. When I'm feeling insane I do it with random race/class.

Given that most of my YASD's are caused by trying to get to an artifact that I can see in a vault that I *really* shouldn't be even attempting to sneak around in, I think that no_preserve mode is not for me...I'd feel pressured to HAVE to try to get it despite the danger, instead of learning to say "nope, too dangerous, try again another time".

My most memorable one was trying to sneak around Kavlax with a max health of about 200hp and missing most high resists to try to get the Star of Elendil. It was pretty much guaranteed to go bad...and of course it did .

I guess I have played enough to where finding certain same artifacts over and over gets kind of bland, so the prospect of having to do with a few egos and artifacts that aren't normaly part of your end game repetoir is kind of exciting and appealing in a sense. It's the unknown factor, you really don't know what your going to have by end game equipment choices.

The answer, Malak, is randarts! Play enough on standarts, and you get to the point where you know not to go into that vault because none of those items are good artifacts because you've already found the good longsword artifacts. But on randarts, any one of those items could blow your mind.

Randarts definitely make me into a greedier vault-grinder.
