    Items stuck in "recharging" mode

So I have (or had) two pieces of Dragon Mail (White and Blue, non-ego) that are stuck in recharge mode. Here's basically what happened:
I used both of their breath weapon abilities in the dungeon, pretty close together (via swap-out). Soon after, I Recalled back to town and dropped them off at my Home (they still said recharging). Then Recalled back to dungeon. Stayed for a few levels' worth of adventuring, then Recalled back to town. They still say recharging. I tried (w)earing them and waiting 100 turns, dropping them on town floor and waiting 100 turns, still say recharging. Even tried (A)ctivating them to see what would happen. Now I sold them and, even in the shop, they still say recharging. Is this common bug, and any advice or should I just let them go?

Items only recharge when you're wearing them, sadly.
I suspect you needed to rest while wearing one for a bit more than a hundred turns.

Yep, MattB is right. Fortunately DSM recharges frequently enough to still be quite useful in the 1000'-2000' range or so.

Inspect the DSM to see how many turns it takes to recharge one. Note that turns it takes changes with your speed: recharge time is constant in game turns, which means the faster you are the more player turns it takes to recharge one.

This same applies to all wearable items with activations, not just DSM:s; they recharge only when you actually wear them.

Similarly, I'm fairly certain that rods will only recharge when in your inventory. I'm near positive that they won't recharge in the home.

Just assume that all auto-recharging items are vampiric and you should be fine.
