    Resistance protects. Just not fixed amount.

    Damage caps apply only to breath attacks, spells don't have damage caps.

      Well, I guess this counts as stupid death, had a stalled angband process, killed it and went back 7 levels...

        Pretty sure Umber Hulks show up with a shallower hit to confuse...but he probably doesn't have much to fear from them.

          Back in business. I'm still missing decent rings. Also more speed and ESP would be nice, but since I dont have other poison resistance than my cap, ESP have to wait. I met kavlax and teleported away. Any idea how deep I can go with this setup without putting my self in harms way ?

              Let me guess (based on your ladder entry) KO from several simultaneous plasma breaths?

              Next time carry crown of serenity (if you find one). Those are really precious because they are about only item in the game with guarantee stun protection. Makes mystics also relatively easy to deal with (pStun prevents stunning from all sources).

                Or just avoid monsters likely to cause stunning. Plasma hounds and Grand Master Mystics are the only likely cause of knockouts in the game; every other monster would have to get really lucky to pull it off.

                Of course, knowing this requires some degree of foreknowledge.

                  You forgot gravity hounds. Those can KO player pretty fast too, but you also get dead really fast with them pStun or not, so usually possibility to KO is just a small addition to already bad situation, and you avoid them anyway.
