    I am so afraid

I recently picked up Angband+variants after a long hiatus. Anways, I have a rogue in 3.5, and he seems to be permanently afraid. I've tried resting, heroism pots, and boldness pots. Nothing seems to get rid of it. Any suggestions? I can't seem to attach my save file to this post, but I can email it on request.

I suspect you have a ring of exsaping on or something. Try unwielding everything, starting with things likely to have the ability - rings, ego items and such.

Many thanks. It was a ring of escaping. Guess I need to familiarize myself with new items that have been added to V since I last played.

Oh boy, an early game speed ring! There's no possible way this could have a downside!

Hope you like 3.5 as much as I did... good luck escaping =D

Rings of Teleportation are now also +2 speed (and of course not cursed anymore). If you can cope with the random teleportation (which isn't that bad), you can play with +4 speed without much downside.
