Randart Dragon Scale Mail without Breath?

First time playing with randarts and just found the Blue Dragon Scale Mail of Istarmen (-2) [12,+20] (+3,+1) +3 Con, +3 Speed, +1 Light, rElec, rDark. BUT NO BREATH ACTIVATION!? I thought all dragon scale mail had some kind of breath weapon.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

I think randarts can "cash in" their activations for other stuff. Either that or they just use the base type and add activations independently?

Aren't those breath activations basically useless in the long run anyways?

This is either a bug or a feature depending on how you look at it. Basically items can only get one activated ability. The debate is whether Dragon armour should always get the standard activation (breath) or should be allowed any activation just like any other randart. The current code lets it have any activation, which often means it gets none at all.

I guess one could imagine a hybrid code that defaults to the breath if no activation or a weaker activation is selected by the randart code.

It is definitely a feature because I wrote it that way and intended it to function like that. One could argue that it is a misfeature, but not a bug.
