Just a quick question

Hello Im new here and just start to play Angband. I dont know if this belongs in the sub-forum or not but, I was wondering if there is a variant of @ or something I could add to my version. Anyways is there some way to have the game create items in the shops or as loot, when you inspect that item it would be made of a certain material ex: Inspecting a short sword and it made of steel, or the chainmail shirt is made of mirthil, or the Longbow is made of yew or oak. Certain materials would give certain bonus ex: Mirthil wouldnt have a weight penalty and have a higher AC rating.

I think new V has materials sometimes. That is pretty much the only thing I can think of, though. Sil also has materials, but just barely. Essentially the same as the others, you have certain base items with the material in the name, and those are better.

v4's affix system uses materials sometimes. I'm pretty sure the materials concept was borrowed from another variant...was it EyAngband?

Yes it was - Ey uses single prefixes with standard V ego suffices; v4 took that a stage further allowing multiples of each. "Material" is an entire category of prefixes, so there are lots to choose from.
