Ulfang the black drops 12 good objects

I wanted to ask this to know how monster memory works. The first time I killed Ulfang the black, he dropped some 12 objects. Actually he had summoned an army of dlvl 2 adventurers who died in a single firebeam. Then he marched towards my mage picking up all the stuff his summons had dropped. Finally when I killed him, he dropped all of it.

The monster memory says upto 12 good objects. Does it say so for everyone? When I killed him later characters he seems to be only dropping 3-4 objects. This was in 3.3.2

Monsters have items that they spawn with, and items that they pick up. The player's character can't differentiate. If you kill Ulfang without him having picked anything up, he'll probably only drop 1 or 2 items.

To be fair, we probably should ditch the number because of these odd cases, or change drop to 'carry'. It should say, "He can pick up items, he carries 1-2 good items." or something.

The fact that @ can't differentiate is true, but not useful for the player.

Another good reason to play with complete monster memory.

I wonder why the monster memory tells you the best possible, that is 'up to' however many objects. This creates the above mentioned confusion for any monster that can pick up stuff. I feel it would be more useful to record the typical number of objects (I guess the median would be best if you want to get extra mathy, but the average would be fine). This would also be more consistent with the description of monsters that drop only one object, which I think says 'may drop a treasure or an object' and not 'drops up to 1 object or treasture'.

I wonder how many items my monster memory claims ainur can drop. I just recently had a epic fight against some ainur pit, and since every time something died, next in line picked it up (while summoning more and more ainur). Must be hundreds of items. Too bad I can't check it from this computer.
