    V - Empty lesser vaults?

I just cleared a small LV at 1950' (wasting a Stone-to-mud charge) and found nothing except a group of manes.

    Is this by design?
PS: forgive me if this is well covered by now; I've been away for a while.

Are you sure it was a vault? I assume you were playing 3.4.1, which doesn't have the new rooms, but it does have circular rooms that can sort of look like vaults due to weird dungeon connection.

If it was a vault, there should definitely have been something in it. The only thing I can think of is that there was an elemental in it that woke up and crushed everything.

Hmmm, appears you are right. I think it was Larder, but with no "random doors" and no objects.

Or it contained only items that he had squelched. Most LV:s don't have guaranteed good items, just items.

That's not correct. Every vault has at least two 9s in it.

yeah, but if they are like spell or prayer books, player could have marked them for squelching beforehand. or some rods/wands/staves/lights ... you name it.

Dungeon books yes, but most consumables cannot be generated on those squares. And the ones that are, are very unlikely to be squelched by a mid-level character.

Should have said "excellent". Good can be something like cloak [1,+1). People squelch good items really fast after start.
