    Counter on "A"ctivate items

Is there any sort of timer/counter on "A"ctivate items? Many of them have a fairly short recharge timer, however artifacts like Eonwe and Celeborn take quite a while. It would be useful to have an idea of when they will become available again.

At least on windows build you have multiple terms available, you can adjust those terms (1 - 7) to show what you want, including equipment worn.

I'm sorry, I didn't fully explain my question. Got distracted by a colleague mid-post and never finished my thought before I hit submit.

What I was looking for was either a turn count for when the active ability will be available again, or the turn count since it was last used while it's charging.

For example say I activated Eonwe. It has a 2600 turn recharge time on it. I'm wonder if there is a way to tell how many turns until it has fully recharged, or how many turns it has been since I used it. I know that sounds like the same thing, but some of the activates have a varying range of how many turns it takes to recharge, so I guess a turn-till-recharged counter wouldn't always be accurate.

If you inscribe it with '!!', you'll get a message when it finishes recharging.

One solution is the one I use with Eonwe.

          Press '0' (Zero not 'O')
When it says count, type in "2600" and press return
          Press '.'

There you go, problem solved, Eonwe is always ready to be used.

(This, of course, assumes that you don't give a hoot about your turn count.)

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping there would be a way for me to tell on the fly before it becomes available, but it appears there is not. Primarily so I could predict if it would charge up mid-battle, or if I should just escape.

I do like that suggestion for in between battles though. If you've seen my ladder post you'll see that turn count hasn't been a concern for me with this character lol.

It does seem to be a rule of Angband that you don't see the result of die rolls.

You could also just 'R'est instead of using '0', FWIW.

Doesn't 'R' stop once you're at full HP/SP? Or is that just because I hit '*' and you can enter a set number of turns?

If you check your interrupt options, you can choose what will interrupt things like "R" and running. And you can rest past full HP/SP if you input a number. There is also an option to automatically receive a message when items recharge

True. But still, one could have "last used XXX turns ago". Note that XXX is likely to have a decimal point in it due to non-integer speed multipliers.
