    Can't start 3.0.9

I'm trying to get the game to run on a Vista machine but every time I run the .exe my cursor changes to an hourglass like it's loading for about 10 seconds, and then returns to normal but nothing else happens. I check the task manager and see the process running, but it is stalled for some reason.

I've tried running under various compatibility settings but no luck. Should I just give up and run an old ASCII version instead (since I'm probably not going need the sound or graphics anyhow.)?

Thats weird. I'm running on Vista just fine. Well besides the fact that the ASCII is all messed.

Have you tried redownloading? Maybe you have a corrupt file..

          Doesn't work!

          Hi there,

I've been lurking for some time, but just registered to ask this question.

I have the same problem as Iren on an XP machine. I've been playing 3.0.9 for months with no problem. Last night, my character found boots of speed +10... this morning, clicking the icon appears to launch the program (it appears in my task manager, with minimal CPU use) but no window appears.

I tried downloading 3.0.9 again after deleting the Angband folder, but no luck.

Deleting the font files doesn't help, nor does running as admin. I have no idea what might have changed. I did get a new printer last night, but Angband ran fine after it was installed, too.

Has anything like this happened to anyone?

          Thanks in advance,
          Ben
