    Drains Experience

In response to that thread on "see invisible": I had always chucked away any weapon that "drains experience". What exactly is that? I had assumed that it slowly drains your xp away over time. If that isn't the case, I might have tossed away some really nice items!

I think that's exactly what it is.

It drains experience, but so slowly that you won't notice the effect once you reach about cl 10 or so. It drains something like 1 point every 100 player turns, which is really a small effect, especially at depths where you need See Invisible.

I concur that certain items are worth wielding even if they do drain XP. I can think of one in particular.

The Palantir and the One Ring spring to mind.

Palantir is a crystal ball, about a feet in a diameter. Works as a video conferencing device. There are only seven pieces made, and they allow the Dark one to control the users' mind (that's a bit over the usual video phonecall thing, isn't it?)
