I'm curious as to what is your favorite old version of angband and why? I like 2.7.8 dos version with the dos-pref file disabled to get the cool acii characters and # for walls.
What I like-
1. Was before the JLE patch that added many items and artifacts to the game
and was before everything was rebalanced because of that.
2. It has enough of modern day Vanilla UI to be useful and not aggravating
gameplay, in ex. targeting, a bow slot, stacking-although in its infancy
3. Less easy knowledge interface, you kind of have to know the properties of an item without just reading about them, their is no info-knowledge interface, unless you fully *ID* an item, in which it will tell you abilities and descriptions then and only then.
4. Being an older version, you don't know what will be generated at given depth, unless you read info files, so its a nice mystery. To much about modern day vanilla we know to much about, their is less mystery to the game.
So what is your favorite and why? I enjoy reading about and occasionally playing the older versions.
