    Keymaps don't save?

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, and if this is covered in the help files I'd appreciate the reference so I can dig this up myself.

I created a keycap (x = fn') and it works great. Until I quit Angband and restart - the keymap isn't saved. I assumed it would be saved with the character file and be available when I started playing again.

What am I doing wrong when I save the keymap or character?

    Thanks!

Never mind. Append to file :-)

It'd be a good idea to associate keymaps with character files, though -- it makes intuitive sense. Then dumping to a file would only be needed if you wanted to start a new character (from a fresh file) and import keymaps from a different character.

/nod. That's what threw me off - my initial sense was that "Append to File" was to save to a prefs file for exporting the file to another machine, so I didn't try that.

There are times when you want to have the keymaps based on the system, not the character though: consider swapping between desktop and netbook keyboards... But as long as you can export the keymap and have that override the character-saved mappings, it should be a nice improvement.

Oh, but you also probably want some easy, reliable reset-to-factory-defaults mechanism, as well, in case the player screws up their keymaps. Its not like "quit without saving" is an option around here...

Maybe a startup parameter? Or an option in the keymap file? (I am assuming the keymaps are broken to the extent that the player cannot reach "whatever ingame menu you put the reset command in")

Adding a "reset keymaps" option to the menu shouldn't be especially difficult.
