Which do you think is the best version of Angband?

Thanks for resurrecting this thread - I always intended to check back and see what the final scores were. No surprises that the second and third most popular are Ben's and Robert's last substantive releases. What really surprises me is that anybody at all voted for 3.1.2 or 3.2.0, since they were products of the current devteam and ought to be completely dominated by 3.3.2.

So if you're one of the people who voted for 3.1.2 or 3.2.0, would you mind saying a little about why you didn't vote for 3.3.2? It would be interesting to know what made the difference.

One of good old versions is the best. At some point, when bugs were already fixed, but "improvements" had not yet been started.

just curious, could you be a bit more precise on the version number?
I play angband since just a few months, so I'm not familiar at all with the "good old times" everybody is talking about

I like 2.7.8 but at the same time it dosent have hardly any note documentation on the items unless you *ID* them, so it is a lot of note taking, and it's extreemly hard, psudo-id isn't as good as in 3.3.2 and it is much slower gameplay advancement, I think the older versions are more of a challenge but they are also slower because of the need to to do a lot of scumming.

i read the changelogs on rephial; although I voted for 3.3.2 (for I played from 3.2.0 on), I can see why you voted that version

hi i voted 3.1.2 please no rage,

stat restore on lvl up ~ no need for that , atleast let us stat restore

maze lvls or watever those tiny lvls are suck and make the game worse

the msg prompts on stairs, must clear to see whole room, annoying!

the new lvl feelings


this is why 3.12 is better, good luck!
