What impresses you most about @?

@ does many impressive things but to me, what's most astonishing is his ability to kill worm masses with a lance. I mean, wow!

What impresses you most about @?

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then why are beholders so freaking ugly?

That's because @ never* eats foods, only paltry rations that meets his barest nutritional needs and occasionally vomits, and @ never* drinks water, thus no waste.

        * well, hardly ever.

I'm amazed that @ can perform so many amazing feats of cunning and strength, and yet is unable to remember the way back whenever (s)he ascends or descends a staircase.

How about the ability to carry a sword in one hand, a shield in another, a bow in a third, a lantern in a fourth, and still have one free for using wands/staves/spellbooks/etc.? I'd like to know what "human" means in the Angbandverse. Maybe @ is just very skilled at using his/her feet and mouth?

The weird relativity rules that mean that carrying large masses slows down the passage of time is also pretty impressive in a what-the-heck sense.

And on a related note, given 10' tiles and 10000 turns in a day (making each turn 8.64 seconds), @ can travel .79 miles per hour indefinitely while carrying hundreds of pounds of gear and inventory. Conversely, @ can also climb 50' vertically in 8.64 seconds for a vertical speed of 3.95 miles per hour, while carrying all that gear and inventory...

              1) But most impressive of all is how, through everything (including combat), @ manages to always hold his lantern up high over his head so that he never casts a shadow.

              2) Also, 360 degree peripheral vision is impressive.

              3) @ can do all this adventuring with only two fingers. (ring slots)

@ the dwarf digs through granite with his teeth!

@ can take down Storm giants by repeatedly stabbing them in the toes!

@ the kobold can take down the God of darkness, dont'cha know!

@ can breathe the elements, see invisible things, travel with the safety of telepathy, float to the ground of a poisoned, dagger laden pit without a scratch, move fast enough to make lightning vortex's dizzy, walk though dragon breath unfazed, resist nearly any magic thrown at him, handle the most powerful spells imaginable, cannot be stopped and wields legendary equipment from ages gone by, go from starving to full by reading a sheet of parchment, magically flit about over a mile underground, drink and eat endlessly, even when his stomach can't possibly hold anything further, and yet, cannot avoid falling through a trap door on several embarrasing occasions.

                Go figure.
You should save my signature. It might be worth something someday.

@ can carry hundreds of pounds of gear depending on his strength but if he wears more than 40 lbs of armor he gets encumbered no matter how strong he is.

@ can move over lava nimbly and without catching fire... But will slip, slide, and often bang his head on ice. (In variants that have ice, anyway.)

@ can drink 99 bottles of beer without getting drunk, but one Potion of Confusion will do him.

@ can tunnel through solid granite with a sword, but can barely even touch some stupid nonmagical Orc unique.

@ can heal a deep gash just by resting. Just think about that.

@ gains hitpoints with experience. It would be nice if the world worked this way, wouldn't it?

On the other hand, @ gains experience chiefly by killing things... So maybe it wouldn't be so nice.

The most amazing thing about @, though, is that @ is a mass murderer, killing everything in his path, from humans to demons to actual angels... And yet we still play this grisly game, and keep coming back for more. We humans are rather messed up, no?

I'm impressed that @, after winning, is able to live to a ripe old age in a town that has random mass murdering adventurers who would sooner run you through with a poleaxe than say "excuse me".

Well, @ did kill a god. Presumably culling all of the level-1 adventurers that come to town wouldn't be an especial strain even for a geriatric godslayer. You just have to get 'em while they're young, before they've learned to fight back.

On a related note, @ can go from weedy little novice to towering pillar of muscle and intellect in about 10 days.

And sustain several, if not hundreds, of nearly-lethal wounds in that same time frame, without complaining even once.
If you can convincingly pretend you're crazy, you probably are.
