    Speed vs. Immunity

I havn't played Angband since the mid-ninties, but started again when 3.3 was released. This version is truly enjoyable to play, great thanks to all developers. Ok, the mid-game may be a little too easy, but I can live with that.

Anyway, I have a question about the importance of immunity. My current character has found Eönwë and Ringil as well as Stormwalker and BoS +10:

I do use Eönwë since it protects potions and switched to Stormwalker when I found them (very recently), but how important is immunity and especially lightning immunity? I have lost a few rods of teleport other, but it doesnt seem to happen often. Is the extra speed better?

You're at +29 speed with Stormwalker, which puts you into diminishing-returns territory. The extra 4 speed from the plain Boots of Speed aren't worth it compared to the sound resistance and electricity immunity.

I'd probably make the same call even if you were at only +10 speed though.

Speaking about immunities, if I were you I'd take with me Azaghal as a swap. Its main use is taking down effortless red dragon and hydra pits, not protecting your house from a defective stove.

Is the same true for Eönwë vs. Ringil?

That is the reason why I kept Azaghal. However, I am too impatient to swap weapons, so I never brought it along.

I wouldn't. Immunity works as swap, but speed saves you from all kinds of trouble, including getting hit by whatever immunity would have protected you. +29 vs +33 is not worth it though. Same with Eonwe and Ringil (immunity alone is nowhere near as powerful as +10 speed from Ringil, and Ringil is slightly better at damage than Eonwe even not counting the speed in the equation).

Mm, partially the immunity and partially the sound resistance, though does sound resistance protect you from plasma stunning now? Maybe I'm overvaluing sound resistance. Oh well...
