    Destrction in 3.3

Please tell me that after clearing most of a greater vault, then using a scroll of destruction to get rid of a room full of Crebains, that the Star I saw on the ground is not gone forever.

The answer depends on if Preserve Mode is on or off. It defaults to ON.

With preserve off, you get only one shot at a given artifact.

With preserve on, as long as you didn't ID it you can see it again.

Thanks, preserve is on. I like the idea that you can't use destruction to clear vaults for artifacts now, just didn't know it was already in place.

Yeah, blame me for this. Clearing vaults with destruction was always a peeve of mine. Just be glad my other change didn't make it in. Destructed monsters would often be pushed to the boundary of the zone instead of removed from the level.

If you did ID it it is gone preserve or not, and in current vanilla I think it is enough to just pick thing up for "ID" artifacts.

I would much more like the way town handles destruction and earthquake done in vaults. Your way is annoying and doesn't remove "push this button to escape" -feature of destruction.

That option is also not too hard to do. I obviously prefer the current way over destruction not having any effect in vaults. The main reasoning is that I just can't understand why artifacts should be immune to destruction.

I like vaults being immune because they are vaults. Destruction removing anything elsewhere is fine, but easy removal of vault from level is not ideal to me.

You can actually do partial cleanup to get rid of just the dangerous monsters with destruction affecting vaults. Just position yourself so that dangerous uniques and monsters that follow you are nicely lined up in edge of the destruction radius and you have cleaned them away. Then the rest of the vault is yours to play with.

BTW does earthquake remove artifacts as well? Because you can do nearly same with it, it only takes a bit longer to do and it doesn't affect pass_wall and eat_wall monsters.

No earthquake doesn't remove artifacts. Maybe it should?

Changing destruction (and earthquake) to not affect icky_squares is a one-line change. I'm willing to add it in a branch, and if d_m or magnate put it in the nightlies, we can see how it plays.

I kinda feel like only vaults that are mostly made out of permanent walls should be immune to destruction. Of course that'd be much more complicated than just making all vaults immune. Even limiting it to only greater vaults being immune would require a new tile marker alongside icky.
