You have been way more lucky than I have. Only artifact I have seen this far is Phial, and I have only ego-helmet of infravision and katana of animal slaying, everything else is not even ego yet, and I'm as deep as you are. My luckiest find this far has been RoDam +6 dropped by some orc at 300' or so. -
Ill try that out thanks, the drops were, definately more random back then. Found the leather armor Hithlomer on level 5, the star on 15, one of the orc bosses dropped Eriril on level 13 the other a suit of bronze dsm! On 18. My favorite, even though its useless to me was a mace of disruption dropped by an ogre on level 16.Leave a comment:

IIRC reason for that is that that potion makes quite an impact when thrown. Potion of detonations should do the same. There are few others too like potion of poison, and mushrooms of unhealth but those make much less damage than those two high-level potions.Leave a comment:

Where does it say that? Leon Marrick, who was probably the best game designer ever to grace the Angband world, didn't think so - Sangband's ID-by-use system depends entirely on this not being true, and it works extremely well.Leave a comment:

There are normal means to make testing un-ID'd scrolls relatively safe. Standing on a staircase, or better yet, on a staircase surrounded by granite on 7 sides or testing in town.
If this is where you're going to take it, then just get rid of the item because that's what this will (eventually) lead to.Leave a comment:

Can you target first using '*', then shoot?
I'm also getting level feelings but not always. This is PC-version 1.31, which is basically Frog-knows with aiming and requirement of having spellbook to gain spells for priests and paladins (I'm assuming that this was not the case for very first Frog-Knows).Leave a comment:

Hmm I must be playing a different version it says 2.4.Frog-knows but I'm getting level feelings and can target after selecting arrows/wand well not really target but aim or fire in a given direction. Maybe this versions after a patch.Leave a comment:

I agree with the light radius its pretty exciting not seeing a monster until youre right beside it. Another thing I'm noticing is packs of creatures are a lot more deadly, my level 7 rogue with 75 hp has almost been killed by packs of cave spiders twice. Had to teleport once and use 3 cure critical wounds the second time. They move so quickly that you don't get the chance to even close a door.Leave a comment:

The dungeon is a lot more creepy with radius 1 light. Found the phial but no different from torch. I like how finding a wand or staff is actually very useful, buying them is just too much gold. Can see actually buying recharge scrolls for my wand of stinking cloud.
Bigger light radius is one thing in current vanilla that, even that it is convenient, is not so good thing for game excitement. That radius one light makes game considerably more tough. IMO torches at least should be reverted back to radius one (unless you find torch of brightness).Leave a comment:

Lol, been enjoying youre thread, I decided to give it a try(FK, not Hoovering). Having fun so far, level 7 helf rogue. The dungeon is a lot more creepy with radius 1 light.
