    Ring of Nether

    Nether is hard to get. Can we get a Ring like in NPP? Been killed too many times by Azriel. Should have waited for more HP, but wanted to dive.
    Or ego Slay Undead could have small chance of getting hold life and smaller chance of nether instead of just see invs.

    I pretty much never wear rings of resist nether in NPP (I do tend to keep them if I have room, but I think that might be a mistake). By the time they might be useful there are too many other good rings. The nether resist hardly cuts the damage from nether in the worst case, and that's what you have to plan for. It's not that it's not useful to have the resist- I appreciate it when I get Narya (V's ring of resist nether), for instance. But it's almost never worth a ring slot, by itself, at that depth. So, I don't think it would hurt balance to add it, but it would be one more useless flavor.

      If you need a ring of nether, add one via the edit files.

        If you want to dive you have to learn to run away. It is not possible to both dive and kill all uniques on first encounter (or at all). Azriel is a prime example for things you should leave alive.

          Or even all non-uniques. With adequate detection, it makes plenty of sense to not wake up Phantoms or Spectres when you first reach them.
          Zaiband: end the "I shouldn't have survived that" experience. V3.0.6 fork on Hg.
          Zaiband 3.0.10 ETA Mar. 7 2011 (Yes, schedule slipped. Latest testing indicates not enough assert() calls to allow release.)
          Z.C++: pre-alpha C/C++ compiler system (usable preprocessor). Also on Hg. Z.C++ 0.0.10 ETA December 31 2011
