    It is a problem, but only if you assume a new, unspoiled player should realistically be expected to get far enough that this is an issue. This is pretty far from how Angband works though...

    I agree this definitely would require more spells (as would adding additional caster classes). Just thought this might be a another way to go without having to worry as much about balancing new and existing classes.

      Try the Sage in Quickband. He can learn mage, priest and druid spells, but he hasn't anywhere near enough spell slots to learn them all, so he has some interesting choices.

      (There's also a decision to be made about which books to carry)
