    question about armor imposed mana points penalty

    hello,

    I'm new to Angband, and have been unable to find any information regarding a certain question. Can somebody tell me how the armor penalty that reduces your mana points works? Are there any factors that affect it? Does the amount of armor you can wear without having a MP penalty increase with your character level? I'd appreciate the help, I looked in the help files and searched the forum but haven't found anything yet.

    Try the spoilers:

    "All spellcasters may suffer a penalty to their maximum number of spell
    points from heavy armor. The maximal combined weight of all armor
    (equipment slots "g" through "l") for each class is given in table 2.
    Exceeding the limit results in a penalty of 1 spell point per pound of
    extra weight."

    Table 2: Effect of class on spells and prayers

    Class Min. level Max. armor weight Minimum fail% Primary stat
    ------- ---------- ----------------- ------------- ------------
    Mage 1 300 pounds 0% Intelligence
    Paladin 1 400 pounds 5% Wisdom
    Priest 1 350 pounds 0% Wisdom
    Ranger 3 400 pounds 5% Intelligence
    Rogue 5 350 pounds 5% Intelligence
    a chunk of Bronze {These look tastier than they are. !E}
    3 blank Parchments (Vellum) {No french novels please.}

      Unfortunately, the spoiler-composer did not compose his table carefully enough. V's smallest unit of weight is the decipound, not the pound. So the table should read:

      Table 2: Effect of class on spells and prayers

      Class Min. level Max. armor weight Minimum fail% Primary stat
      ------- ---------- ----------------- ------------- ------------
      Mage 1 30.0 pounds 0% Intelligence
      Paladin 1 40.0 pounds 5% Wisdom
      Priest 1 35.0 pounds 0% Wisdom
      Ranger 3 40.0 pounds 5% Intelligence
      Rogue 5 35.0 pounds 5% Intelligence

        Hi Zaimoni,

        Thanks for pointing this out. I have just corrected this table in my draft version for V 3.0.9. I'm not sure when the correction will go online because I still have lots to do before I can publish the bundle as "correct for 3.0.9", and I currently have little time to spare...
        Best, Hugo

          The correction is valid as far back as the current weight settings are valid for V. It could go up immediately as a spot-fix for Vx.x.x .
