    Portal & Teleport Self

    Is Portal intended to work like Phase Door, rather than like Teleport Self? The description and mana cost would indicate so, but it behaves identically (from a few tests I've done) to the later priest spell Teleport Self as well as other teleport self effects, rather than like Phase Door. This renders the Teleport Self prayer effectively useless, since it's more mana for the same effect.

    Portal has a shorter range earlier on, but gains enough range as time goes by for it to effectively behave just like Teleport Self. Many of the prayers the priest gets are redundant.

      Actually portal is better than teleport self at high clvl just because of shorter range. It is still long enough that you get out of the trouble, but short enough that it prevents jumping back and forth of two dangerous spots like teleport self tend to do.

        What do you feel about relaxing the minimum distance requirement on teleport?

        Maybe cap the minimum distance at 15 squares?

          My current playstyle requires so little teleporting that it is hard to say if there has been any change in teleport self. I would need to test-run it in some less dangerous levels to see how it behaves.

            Has there been a change?

            I believe it's mostly a case of nightlies having smaller levels, so the same old behaviour of Teleport Self has become even more limited. The spell is meant to become better with clvl, the easiest way to do that was to increase some number based on clvl. But for TS this increase makes the spell worse beyond a certain point (determined by dungeon size and shape).

            Setting a cap at 15 would certainly help. Is there a cap today, and if so, what is it? I feel any cap (min and max) should correlate to the dungeon size.

              I see no problem with making teleport not scale with level at all. The bless and cure series already don't change with level. There's no particular need for teleport to get more powerful over time and some reason for it not to. Might as well rescale it to fit the smaller dungeon too.
