Human Warrior equipment dilemma clvl 49

Hi guys!

First game after nearly 8 years I think - I'm enjoying the changes e.g. quiver slots, examine giving weapon damage info, ego DSM and new artifacts.

Classic (almost) noob question though - just returned from a somewhat productive trip to level 70, made it to Clvl 49 and have a shedload of artifacts and ego items I've been hauling around and stashing at home. But I don't know what to wear!

So - questions are:

• what is the most important resist combo to go for in the equipment?
• how much speed is worth having?
• why is the Glaive of Pain so little valued by the shopkeepers when it gives me double the damage of any other weapon? is it as good as I think?
• why is sting valued so highly?
• I have 4 nice amulets - but what is best?
• what should I keep and what should I chuck of all the crap (albeit nice crap) at home and in my inventory

I know everyone asks these questions, so don't waste any time on it if you're busy... but if there are folks out there who enjoy analysing character dumps and telling me my strategies are outdated - then fire away! Many thanks in advance....

Hi,

A few things:

- Glave of Pain is great when using the =Acid[+19]. Look for how much damage it does without the ring of acid, should be much less. If you get a better ring than Acid, you may need a better weapon so don't throw away them all. Look at the damage output with and without =Acid.

- Temporary speed of 30 or better really helps in fights. Significantly more helps a bit, but not that much. Significantly lower and you face the risk of death by fast monsters/unique's double moving on you.

- Celeborn is great, The activation is very useful. But +8 speed and rConfusion from the DSM is good to have too. Still, I'd swap armour to Celeborn, but I'd bring Thengel to enable swap from ESP to rConf. Also I'd get myself a way to get a temporary speed boost (potions/wand/rod). For the end game you need minimum speed 30.

-"Elessar is good. You need the Rpois and also get healing activation. But "Trickery also gives rPois as well as +3 speed. If you have staff of healing or other good source for healing you might also use "Trickery to get speed.

- I'd bring potions of CureCriticalWounds to cure stun and other things and also some heal and not waste !healing

- Immunities are very useful versus the really big breathers in the later game as well as to save your potions and scrolls. Not necessary but practical. You can also get double resistance through quaffing potions of resist fire/cold/poision in those situations. Mage spellbooks has Resistance as a spell but you don't get that as a fighter.

He's got Feanor, Thorin, and Dor Lomin.

He'll find a better RoS between now and then to bring him above 30.

He is using Paurnimmen which already does cold-branding. IMO in that case RoDam is better than another brand. Acid-ring as swap. Or DEX to get blows up to 6 (both give approx 55 points of extra damage / turn).

I agree that he should be down to Sauron by now.
