    Accents only in some messages

It seems that the new accented versions of some names are used only in some of the messages: for instance,
You hit Grishnákh, the Hill Orc.
Grishnakh, the Hill Orc flees in terror!
(here I am copying the messages manually because I do not find a way to copy'n'paste from the SDL port).

Last nightly, SDL port, xchars_to_file=no (just in case it matters).

Actually now that you're at it--the accents get totally screwed up in the Mac port and often end up as totally different characters. Given this issue, I would consider dropping the accents totally (though admittedly I really like them if it can be done reliably on all platforms).

For instance, my character is wielding the the great axe of Eonwe at the moment and when I look at the description on doing "I" it explains:

The axe of EˆnwÎ, leader of the Hosts of the West before the gates of Thangorodrim, strikes with icy wrath...

I list the exact characters that are displayed, and I don't think this is intended. In my inventory and at the top of the description, however, it simply says "Eonwe" without accents.

I can replicate this behavior in the Mac OS X port. Noted as trac ticket #1423. Thanks.

I've just fixed the Mac OS X accent issue in development. The change will go into the next development release.

The original issue that fph reported is not actually specific to the SDL port. noz is working on moving our codebase from the Latin-1 encoding to UTF-8; the inconsistent display of accents should go away as a side effect of this change.

Cool. You might also want to correct the typo I noticed yesterday in the description of Ulmo: I believe there is the word "Mightest", when I think you mean "Mightiest".

(and of course fix the over-down-toning of certain standarts I posted in the other thread in agreement with Timo--I mean seriously you've got to leave alone the rings of power, Fingolfin, and Cambeleg, and lessen the decreases on Elessar and Gondor).
