Can rods be destroyed?

The lesser rods are vulnerable to electrical damage just like wands are, but the more powerful ones aren't ('I'nspect the item to check; it'll say if it's invulnerable). So basically if you're a warrior you have to deal with occasionally losing trap/object detection and everyone else carries on as normal.
