[3.2] Banishment preserves item on failure

Currently, reading a scroll of banishment or using a staff of banishment will use up the scroll or one staff charge only if something is actually banished (player chose a monster race).

An idea would be to allow the item to banish the closest monster race instead of preserving the item when the player aborts the race choice. This is what's done in MAngband, and adds a bit of risk when using such a powerful item...

PWMAngband variant maintainer - check https://github.com/draconisPW/PWMAngband (or http://www.mangband.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=9) to learn more about this new variant!

Hmm. This was deliberately changed in response to complaints about using up a powerful item on an accidental keystroke.

I don't think it should be reverted. Especially as a character may need to escape out of a banishment if they are a tile player and halfway through needs to remember if a Dracolich is a dragon or a lich.

What happens if you try to banish @? I haven't tried that.

This should only happen if the item is used when unidentified. I don't think the player should get a free identify without use, which is currently the case in V. When it is identified, you should be able to back out of a mistaken keypress.
