    ZAngband Questions

    Heya.
I've been playing ZAngbandTK for a while now, and I understand most of what I encounter but still have two questions:
The Greater Hellbeasts? They appear on level one and simply crush the player every turn, taking no damage but simply slowing him/her. Is this a bug or something?
The Warg quest, the second you get. Where is the "dungeon" you're supposed to go to? I tried going to floor -5 in the dungeon but didn't find any Wargs. -5 equals to 250', right?

    Hiya,

It's a 'joke monster' - the idea being that as soon as an experienced player sees a "U" monster on DL1 or so, s/he cacks themselves but it doesn't do any direct damage, apart from being very, very annoying indeed...

Hmm, I haven't played ZangbandTK but in old-school Z (around versions 2.2.4 - 2.4.0), the warg quest shows up in the main dungeon at 250' as you deduced. If they don't show up there in Ztk, it could be a bug or it could be that Ztk has more than one dungeon and that they only show up in one particular one...

Or just edit out the GHB because some silly monsters are ok, but that one is annoying as all hell.

I've came up with some new questions.
What does a wand of wonder do? In Crossfire I remember a wand of wonder creating great weapons, summon monsters and mists.
Is there some database of items where you can see diffrent items? I'd like to know stuff like wich shovels are the best.
How to bring up the quest-log? I thought you did it on Q, shift-Q or ctrl-Q but when I tried today I was greeted by such grave messages as "You sure you want to take suicide?" and "You sure you want to quit?" or something alike.
Oh yeah, why are the first two missions given by the Major dangerous level 5 and the third dangerous level 48!? The INN gives you a 24, the first, also quite high. About how high level should you have to take on a danger 24 mission? Level 24?

about wand of wonder: it activates randomly for all wand's effects
about shovel: look for greater 'to dig' bonus
about quest log: I don't remember Zk, but try '=' or '|'

              Ah.

In a review of the game I read that when you find an artifact you should spend a few gold coins on it and look it up in the library. There is a library? Where?
Where are the guilds aswell? The review mentioned a Theieves and Mages guild.
Come to think of it, how dangerous is danger level 24 and 48?

Oh yeah. When poisoned and you have your stats decreased, how to restore them?
I've had my strength reduced by one or two, dexterity by four and charisma by one or two. Quite annoying.

Stats are restored by Potions of Restore <stat>. Can be found in dungeon, also some town shops sells them. I don't know Z, might be Temple or Alchemists or something.

remember that you're playing in ZTk - this is not a full version of Z - it has better graphic but IIRC doesn't give you a wilderness (including extra towns and guilds). Only herbal identify shows you all information about exellent/special items.

DLEV 24 isn't to deep (1200 ft) - but the risk for player depends on many variables and play styles - plev 20-25 is enough I think for most of characters.

DLEV 48 is more heavy - plev 30-35 is enough.

To restore dropped stats search dungeon or shops for potion/mushrooms of restoring str/con etc. or potion of str/con etc.

You don't have a wilderness in ZTk? There's alot of forest around (4-6 screens in each direction?) the main city, ain't that a wilderness?
By the way I didnt mean dungeon level, I meant DANGER level. When you request a quest it sais "Danger Level: 24" (Old Man Willow) or "Danger Level: 48" (Haunted House).

my zangbandTK has roads leading to several other major cities with guilds and more but you have to turn it on in the character rolling options.
