Just as a side note, you won't get resist confusion on shields starting in the nightlies; confusion as an element is gone. You can get protection from confusion (the status ailment) as an ability on items that grant random abilities though.

      No more Bronze DSM?

RConf is pretty hard to come by as is...

No more bronze DSM. Or bronze dragons for that matter.

Think of it this way: would a silver dragon that breathes blindness make sense?

Totally. I'd want one as a pet.

What about the titanium dragon that breathes drain charges, or the platinum dragon that breathes paralysis? :-)

Drain charges would be a wonderful way to shut up anyone playing their music too loudly in my general proximity.

Depending on what high resist Elvenkind gives you it might be better than Celegorm, but I don't see it beating out the other two.

And yeah, I can't remember the last time I saw an elvenkind shield. They really are very rare.
I had one in that last game I lost due to the damn hounds/ping-pong teleport issue. In my current game I have neither elvenkind nor artifact. In my prev game with the elvenkind shield I had found no artifact shields either. So I challenge the assertion they are too frequent.
