He knew that there would be a point where the diminishing returns were not sufficient when weighed against the waste of his time. However playing Angband devalues the player's perception of his own time such that the concept loses all meaning.

I didn't really care for the ending.

The same thing happened to me the first time I tried. Later, I clicked on the link again and walked away, when I came back the page had loaded.
