    Dor-Lomin vs. Hammerhand in 3.1.2

    Hey everyone,
    I just found the Helm of Dor-Lomin and I have the Helm of Hammerhand equipped now. Is the Telepathy granted by the Dor-Lomin worth the trade off of the (+9, +9) and the negative of aggravate monster? Hammerhand is also providing my resistance to Nexus right now. The other relevant ability of Dor-Lomin is I'm currently running without Electricity resistance at 2200 feet. It hasn't hurt me so far.. I've been waiting to find better armor.

    I would probably use Dor-Lomin over Hammerhand for the ESP at this stage, but that's just me.

    Just to be clear, it's Hammerhand that has aggravation, so really the trade off is:

    ESP + rElec + no-aggravation

    vs.

    (+9,+9) + rNexus + aggravation
    linux->xterm->screen->pmacs

      I would use Dor-Lomin for the electricity resistance. You are literally bucking for a lightning bolt from heaven to disintegrate you where you stand. Ancient multihued dragons are in-depth for you right now and deal 616 damage with their electricity breaths before resistance.

      The telepathy and lack of aggravation are both very powerful (or rather, telepathy is powerful, and having aggravation sucks). But keep Hammerhand around; it can make good end-game kit since you don't care about aggravation for the final fights anyway.

        To me that question is is the aggravation worth rNexus, (+9,+9) and +3 to STR, DEX, CON and I would say no it isn't. I would trade that to helmet of beauty....until endgame where you want to get into fight with questors. Then it is great item.

        Dor-Lomin is one of the most powerful headgears and can only be beaten by Gondor if you have ESP elsewhere. Or not. Sometimes you might want to have INT instead of fighting stats, but that is rare, and then magi with ESP beats Dor-Lomin. Sometimes +2 WIS, INT and rBlindness make Thranduil better.

        If you have hole in basic4 in 2000'+ then there is no question at all should you use an item with that resist. Sooner or later you will meet something that kills you instantly using that resistance hole.

        If you don't have ESP, then you should use whatever is giving it. Anything.

        If you are worried about nexus use Hammerhand as swap-item.

            Just don't throw Hammerhand away. It is fantastic in the late game.
