    status line -more- UI suggestion

    Hello.

As we all know the status line tells us when something happens and there are a lot of stuff going on in there. Because of that when you are in no danger and stuff that goes on there is just notification about something recharging or something like that you easily miss that.

    So suggestion:

When you clear the "-more-" prompt and continue playing actual message could stay there showing you what was the last message in message list, only the "-more-" could disappear showing that this already happened and you continued after it.

So you mean the last message stays on the top line until it's replaced by the next one? Hmm. Not sure what I think about that. I think it would get irritating. (Don't you play with the message subwindow open?)

The messages window does a fine job of this already. You could position it over the messages area of the main Angband window to accomplish the same effect you originally described, couldn't you? It might look a bit ugly with the window borders though, I suppose.

No, it just clutters the desktop for very little reason. I like to keep it simple, so I have my inventory, monster list and map visible, nothing else. As it is message window would only work as distraction.

For this, I just keep one of my sub windows set to Display Messages. I've even gone over to the "Automatically clear -more- messages (automore)" side, having gotten sick of Esc or Spacing out of long message chains and I am not looking back.
