    Minimum speed at dlvl 75+?

    Hello All,

I think my RoS +11 got zapped when not worn (needed narya & barahir) and now I'm very slow.

The question is can I go on downwards or do I have to stay and search for a new RoS or speed boots? (haven't found any speed boots in the whole game but have seen loads of good shooters including uber Lothlorien bow and Bard, which I just got from an *Aquirement*. But with Umbar who needs it?)

I do have Cubragol, but compared to Umbar it is useless as a weapon. And Umbar gives rBlindness which I need unless I swap a lot of stuff in the home.

RoLightning is where I wanted to put my RoS. I use it to get double resistance against storm wyrms and sometime it adds some damage.

Another question -- do you guys ever wear so many weapons as I do? Previous when my speed was better I was ok even when losing a few points in speed versus having very high damage output against the major monster types. Now I don't know.

Advice welcome. I'd really like to make this character my first win.

    /Mathias

I'd get more CCW! and try to find some wands of TO until you have about 3 more Rods of TO. Also *Destruction* is handy to knock out any hounds. I think that you are safe to go lower just keep hasted at all times. Also detect a lot. Remember you don't have to fight everything. Pick your fights. Yes I'm saying be a bully. It's okay in Angband to be a bully.

He's a warrior, so staying hasted all the time isn't really feasible.

You don't need to be carrying all those weapons. Durin will beat the crap out of the vast majority of foes. All it's missing is evil/undead slays, and most enemies will fall victim to one of its elemental brands anyway. Turmil also isn't that useful since cold immunity doesn't come into play all that often and it doesn't do very much damage.

You should be stashing !Speed in the home for the last two fights, since Sauron and Morgoth both hit to drain charges. Use your _Speed instead.

There's no need to carry both rations and elvish waybread. But you should definitely have more !CCW. If I don't have at least 15 going into the dungeon I feel underprepared.

Caspanion isn't helping you that much. Poison resistance is important, yes, but you do have max HP over 1000 so even an unresisted poison breath won't kill you outright. Likewise, you don't need the shards/disenchantment resistance that Celebrimbor is giving you (though you might need the DEX). I'd swap in Gondor for Celebrimbor and Thalkettoth for Caspanion; you lose poison/disenchantment resistance, but gain +6 speed, a healing activation, and an alternate source of blindness resistance so you don't have to wear Umbar all the time. Speaking of which, Umbar should be a swap weapon -- exploring with it on is dangerous because of its aggravation effect. Wear Cubragol for general exploration; carry Belthrondig if you need a source of disenchantment resist.

You can lose Azaghal; it's not going to be worth using even with a fire immunity. Likewise the cloak of protection, and Arvedui.

Without speed you need stealth. With Umbar you don't have any. I'd use any other shooter without aggravation instead. Or even no shooter at all and Umbar as swap.

RoS is native at dlvl 75. If you can survive there it is safe for you to stay there searching for RoS.

Thanks for advice! Now reconfigured and much better equipped.

Had some luck on wyrm drops and got speed boots, ring and AULE!
Feeling like a coward but I stick to defaulting with Barahir for rPoi and swapping to RoS +6 in fights were poison is not going to be an issue.

Should be able to dive all the way to M. with this gear now, right?

p.s. I did note that my Seeker Bolts of Frost (4d5) (+10,+15) do 1002 points of damage when shot by Umbar. Awesome, but as adviced I now use Cubragol for speed and Umbar only as a swap.
