    traps gfx

    Hello all,

    by the way, am I the only one for whom trap graphics frequently seem to be corrupted? I'm playing version 3.1.2v2 on the mac in graphics mode, using 32x32 tiles. for me whenever there are traps on screen they frequently take on the the tile of something else nearby. for example on my screen right now, I can see two mature red dragons, but when I look (using the 'l' key) then I can see only one is a dragon and the other is a gas trap.

    sometimes it'll change back to a trap graphic, sometimes it'll change to something else. it's happened for ages and I've mostly ignored it, but I figured I probably ought to point it out to see if it's just me...

      I don't have a Mac, but I've been messing around with the 16x16 tiles trying to make my own set, and I've noticed that some of the dungeon features, like walls and traps, have three separate graphics associated with them. Which one you see depends on the lighting conditions and your display options (the "use special colours for torch light/field of view/wall grids/floor grids" settings).

      So it's possible that what's happening is that you see the correct tile under certain visual conditions, but it changes to the wrong one when, say, you move so that it's outside of your field of view or within the radius of your torch light. Next time it happens, try changing those settings around and see if that alters the image you get for the trap.

      ...Or it could be something completely different, but hey, worth a try.
