I completely agree, but winning has never been my first priority (yet alone a quick winner). If it was, I probably would have given up long ago. Maybe I'm not the best person to be giving advice .

What I was trying to say is that reading the forum, although it DOES contain a lot of great advice, also contains some bogus (outdated) and sometimes contradictory advice. A newb reading the forum may get the impression that he knows all he needs to to win the game, and by following the info gathered Morgoth will be taking a dirt nap in no time at all, then wonders why he keeps dying on DL30.

Six months to win is impressive, but it's still six months, despite the forum. Practice makes perfect.

So what is your main goal in playing if not to win?

And actually I think that I could have won sooner if I had been a bit more careful. But again I credit it to the forum. Having said that you do need to figure out what advice is going to work best for you.

I would like to win. I want to win on my own terms. If I can't, that's fine. I enjoy playing, but I begin to begin to lose interest past DL50 (which is also OK because it takes me quite a long time to reach that point). I think that the attention to detail required to thrive beyond 50 turns me off. Currently my goal seems to be to advance a character farther than my previous best. A competition against myself, I guess. Even Lando, my current character, who is moving quite comfortably around DL65, doesn't inspire me much. I feel Lando's game devolving into a festival of TO and detect treasure. This is relatively new territory for me, so maybe it's just a matter of getting accustomed to the way the later game needs to be played.
