    Endgame

    Hey!

    I feel real good about my current character. I've played Angband for a few years now and have never gotten this far!

    As far as I understand the end game, I should progressively wipe out all the uniques I can, so that the big two can't summon them on me...

    Playing a warrior makes it hard with banishment, can't seem to stockpile enough of it...

    I have a good hoard of arrows that I think will do the job, what other advice can you guys give me to do the deed?

      Your melee damage could be better. You also have way more STR, CON, and DEX than you actually need (once you hit 18/*** further improvements are pointless). Therefore, try to get the Glaive of Pain equipped, and see if you can find a Ring of Acid so your melee attacks are branded. That alone will let you take down Sauron without too much trouble. For Morgoth you may want to take him out at range, which means finding plenty of good missiles, especially Holy Might and Slay Evil.

          I just today won with one of my warriors.

          The final fight against Morgoth will be heavily melee. To be honest, I didn't even have arrows equipped once I found the Trident of Ulmo and literally bashed everything to death. Don't feel that a good ranged weapon is necessary to win; I used it just for Disenchant resist. You can shoot him if you want, but you will need a lot of banish control because his earthquakes won't break up LoS (since he won't be hitting you).

          Your kit looks really good! You will want to have some more damage for the last fight, or a whole lot of consumables. Maybe about 20 !Heal, 10!*Heal/Life, a few scrolls of banish/mass banish, a full stack of !CCW, and rods of TO.

          There are some key artifacts you might want to keep looking for to make this game easier: Vilya and Nenya, Cubragol or Belthronding, a higher damage weapon like Deathwreaker (very rare but uber if you find it, but don't wait up for it) or Ulmo etc., and more speed. Morgoth and Sauron both cast Slow on you so expect your speed will be 10 lower than whatever you can get it to for the fight. Morgoth is +30 speed (I believe) so shoot for that much without a !Speed active or else he will double move you and could do more than 1k damage in one turn (double mana storm).

          With a high-damage endgame artifact (i.e. 6 blows at 100 damage per blow) you will destroy Sauron in about 10 rounds and have a good chance against Morgoth with enough consumables.

              For melee, you just have to watch your stat sustains and have enough scrolls, potions and rods for the fight! (No wands/staves.)

                  Wow, thanks for all the tips! Ive heard a few times that Glaive of Pain is the way to go, just havent had all my resists in order until now to try it!

                  Going to try to take out a few more uniques with !heat and !cold and see how it goes! Ill keep you all posted either way!

                  Exciting to actually be planning the last battles!

                      Just remember while it's tedious to bail halfway through a Morgoth fight and re-farm consumables, it's much faster than rolling a new character. Don't take chances. Try to over-prepare for Morgoth, especially for your first win. He is a lot harder than any other unique by far. The only good thing about him is he doesn't teleport you or him away (unlike Sauron) which can provide you some strategy.

                      And that his melee hits can cause earthquakes that disrupt LoS from his summons.

                      I recommend for a warrior that when you're sure you're ready to fight him, you TO him until you can dig into a corner of the map and melee him there with permanent walls on 5 out of 8 sides of you. Or you might be lucky enough to find a dlvl 100 with a perm-wall vault.

                          Woot! Sauron is dead! No good drops unfortunately... I think I have about 10 uniques left in the game...

                          Still in the planning stages for taking down Morgoth, used all my !healing during the fight with lil p...

                              Just a warning: Morgoth is a lot tougher opponent than Sauron. If you had trouble with Sauron you are nowhere near ready for M.
