Angband for Droid

As I just got an Evo this week, I found an Angband for Droid app out there. I visted the page, but can't seem to figure out which version it is running. Also, no way to use the touchscreen apparently, which means I'd have to hook up my Bluetooth keyboard to play. Not horrible, but I don't carry around my pocket BT KB every day (let alone have used it in 2 years....)

Anyone know more about if anyone is doing anything with Angband for Android? I don't even know how you would implement the game using only a touchscreen anyway. I can see you dragging a finger in the direction to walk, but all the commands?

I play Angband on my Moto Droid which has a qwerty keyboard. The touch screen is divided into a nine region grid which replicates the number pad for movement. I think the implementor is working on a solution to create a pop-up for the times you need to enter information. For instance the Y/N prompt when you destroy an item. As far as the other non-movement commands, they would need to be accessed through the "enter" menus. It seems like it would be pretty clunky to play that way. I think your pocket keyboard is a better solution.

The angband version on my phone is 3.1.0.

Unless he does it, I'm thinking of updating that to 3.1.2 when it's a bit more stable, since the changes after 3.1.0 are pretty nice.

There was some issue with the new handling of the monsters.txt files being very slow to load on the lower powered phones that was preventing him from upgrading to the next version. There has not been a lot of activity on his web page for a while, so he may not be actively working on the port anymore.
