    Best melee?

    Hey!

Think I have a good chance with this one!

Diving all the way, have all my resists covered (rConf with swap), ESP, +13 speed.

Just found Fundins, after having Avavir for a while...

Any comments on pros and cons? Which is more effective?

any tips in general? I think I missed stat gain Feels like i dived right through it. The advice I have read was once you have the resists, dlvl40 is as bad as dl98. So Im goin for it!

EDIT: Now walkin around lvl 98, butnot getting much done... Huggin the stairs, resting to get my rods of detection up, and avoiding almost everything... Any advice on how to proceed? U jsut cant imagine tackling a vault at this point with 5 uniques in almost every one...

    heres my dump...

You have a nice character going.

Top priority is maxing out your consitution. You will soon encounter many situations where you could lose more than 600hp in one turn.

Full time Resist blindness and confusion are also essential.

For a warrior, rBlind isn't as important since you aren't casting spells all the time but only if you already have telepathy.

You might consider using the Glaive of Pain if you want to try on an Acid ring instead of one of those (relatively low) speed rings. That is until you find a ring of power.

Just keep detecting items and seek out every Mace of Disruption you can find hoping to get Deathwreaker.

Thanks for the input! I just can't switch out my cap yet for total resist confusion and lose telepathy... I will try a ring of Acid and the Glaive and see what happens!

Blind with Telepathy is doable... but you could walk into the higher end Q's and get wrecked by a dozen summons.

So if you must, be *VERY* careful.

The scourge of blind-with-ESP can be expressed in one word: drolem.

I am very careful to detect at all times, and I have two other headgears that I swap out for rblind/rconf, I play rather "scared", and run away constantly... Hopefully my luck holds out long enough to complete my kit... have maxed my con and have 900 HP, am going to soon start with !rcold/!rheat to go after some uniques...

You know, I think I noticed all of one drolem in my last game, and it never woke up. Yes, they can trounce you if you don't notice one coming, but I think that if you find yourself in that situation, you either have seriously bad stealth, or you've been ridiculously negligent in your detection. Or you're playing a warrior.

Aren't drolems both non-evil and invisible? That makes them pretty hard to detect IIRC, since Reveal Monsters is pretty expensive. Besides, if you're blind you can't cast spells, and your device success plummets too ...

They're non-evil, but clearly visible. Invisible golem? I guess this kind of magic doesn't last long :-)

Drolems are non-evil and mindless, yes, so your only options for detecting them at range are Detect Monsters and Detection. However, in my experience the window between Drolems showing up and priest-types getting Godly Insights is typically quite small, so as noted, it's just the warriors getting screwed here.

But thankfully I'm a warrior with a rod of detection... and have only seen one so far and ran away as fast as I could...

My point was that anyone except a warrior should be trivially able to detect the drolem before it starts marauding its way through the dungeon. Surely you don't spend anywhere near a significant fraction of your time blinded, right?

Indeed not, but once you're blind, you don't know if the drolem you detected previously has woken up and moved. I once lost a promising char to *exactly* this - got blinded, had ESP so didn't care, got gassed by a drolem I had previously detected (asleep) and had forgotten about ...
