    Am I ready for M?

This is my second character to get to M, the first one got killed because I did not know how much damage he could do. I'd like to get some opinions on whether or not this character is ready to go after him. I killed Sauron without much trouble with some arrows of acid and melee from a rune.

The only things I'm worried about it I don't have a lot of consumables so I'm wondering if I should spend some time stockpiling those. Also I don't have a crossbow, should I spend some time looking for one so I can use the bolts of holy might? Finally would it be worth it to use the aggravating artifacts, specifically hammerhand and the haradrim shield to up my melee damage.

It looks like you're just missing potions of restore mana and speed. M drains charges so you can't really use your staves of speed, and I've found that the fail rate of the rods is too high for them to be reliable (especially at your INT). You want to ensure that you are at +30 speed or more for the entire battle. Less than that means occasional double moves from M and possibly instant death.

You have bolts of slay evil and bolts of holy might so if you can find an extra might heavy xbow you should probably use that to soften him up. Then you can use the staves and phase away whenever M gets too close.

Make sure you fight him in a broken area like a destruction zone. Otherwise, the summons get unwieldy very quickly. LOS (Line of Sight) abuse in a destruction zone is by far the easiest way to kill M. If you get swamped by summons, banish evil, or if most don't have LOS to you, you can teleport other Morgoth and destruct.

Also, killing Lungorthin and Vecna is probably a good idea since they get summoned with nasty escorts.

You also don't have any scrolls of banishment or mass banishment. These aren't *necessary* for a priest but banish evil is dangerous in case you need to teleport away.

I would say, get a top of the line launcher and about 9 or 10 restore mana (or less along with some banishment scrolls) Heal whenever you are below about 650 (mana storm hits for 600) and use !*healing* after manastorms, 5 !*healing* and 1 life should be enough.

      .
IF you don't kill these two and they get summoned, just teleport yourself away (don't phase, use portal or teleport self). Morgy will find you soon enough since he can dig through walls. If you destruct them, he will just summon them back.

So I was playing around a little right after killing Sauron and found Cubragol just a few turns later. I decided to try playing with Morgy a little so I recalled to town grabbed my bolts and went back down. Was talking it nice and easy then I forgot to TO Morgy before *Destructing* oops, went back to town and decided to use the aggravating equipment to give myself an extra shot and went back down. It's slow going but I have twice gotten M down to 7 stars and then he lands in the middle of a big vault when I TO and gets stuck. One time I portaled around the vault until he found his way out, now I'm thinking I may try to crack the vault while he watches. That may be a bug I think.

I took a screenie but not sure where to load it. Dump updated

Woohoo, winner winner!!! My first win after playing about 15 years. The fight with Morgoth was very tough, I was out of pretty much all consumables except teleport scrolls and one life potion and I was down to about 13 mp with no way to restore except tele and rest. Very exciting, my heart is still pounding, unfortunately I cannot get up and dance around like a fool like I want to since I'm at work

Congratulations! Those close call battles serve to get your blood pumping and also to give you visibility into how many consumables you tend to wolf through when fighting M so you'll be better prepared for next time.

Enjoy your first! Now go try another class

Also only 1.3 million turns, significantly faster than my only other char to get to Morgy at 8 mill.

First I think I'm gonna finish off the unique list then another class and I'm gonna try randarts.
