Shovel or Pick?

Terribly sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a search and didn't find anything.

What exactly is the difference between a shovel and a pick? Upon inspecting each, they both say "It increases your tunneling by 1." I would think that the pick might be better, but they both increase tunneling by the same amount. Am I misinterpreting the messaging?

Tunneling is affected by various factors. One of them is the weight of your weapon or digger.

A pick is more effective for digging than a shovel because of it's higher weight. Both are more effective for digging than melee weapons of the same weight because of the +1 to tunneling.

IIRC, 10 lbs in weight is equal to +1 digging
