    Pseudo-id questions

(Was there pseudo-id in the original Moria? I used to play as a kid but I can't remember if pseudo-id was in there or not. I have vague memories of it being there, but I think they may be false memories based on playing Zangband years later (and years ago).)

Do I understand correctly that if something is pseudo-id'ed as "magical" that means it has bonuses or maluses to hit and dam and has no other magical traits?

What's the difference between an "excellent" and "superb" pseudo-id?

"Ego" means it's a weapon "of" something, but is not an artifact, is that correct? (I.e. "of Westernesse" or "of acid" or whatever.)

If I squelch all weapons and armor of "good" quality and below, then this will squelch everything with only bonuses (or maluses) to hit and to dam, or worse, is that right?

Excellent items are basic slays on weapons, or resistance on armor. Basically ego items that don't immediately show anything immediately.

Superb items add to stats, or are branded, or add to searching, etc.

I too cannot remember - it's now 20 years since I played Moria.

      Correct.

Excellent means any ego item (see below). Splendid is a subset of excellent, which means an ego item with one or more characteristics which are deemed instantly obvious on wield (e.g. a brand, stat bonus, see invis etc.).

Yes. Ego is anything more interesting than just plusses. Boots of Slow Descent are about the most trivial ego: they have Feather Falling and nothing else.

Yes. It will not squelch any ego types at all. Later on you can squelch excellent-but-not-splendid, which is very helpful and weeds out weaker egos.
