@Magnate: I added the graphics for the buckler (0x80:0xe4) and gloves of mining (0x80:0xe5). You just need to add them into the prf when you implement them.

    EDIT: and that makes 1000!
Ah, ports that use PNG use its support for transparency rather than a mask, or we'd always have up-to-date PNG files. If you could provide instructions for how to create PNGs from the BMPs with the transparency built-in, then we can avoid them going out of sync again.

I've added a transparent background png to the zip file. EDIT: Now correctly labeled as 32x32.png.

I don't know much about png's. I just used the existing mask32 as a cookie cutter to delete the black background then set the alpha transparency to 1 in the save dialog. Paint.net did the rest. The result should be identical to the current 32x32/mask.

does that mean all other graphics based ports have been out of sync gfx-wise for a year or so? Ive had those invisible characters before just didn't report it.

I notice this new downlaod has a mask32.png, but there's no other mask32.pngs there. do I really need it? does the 32x32.png have the right transparency to use?

EDIT: It does now. Try the 32x32.png. It does have the transparent background.

This leads me to believe that it will work just fine. Report your success or failure here and I'll update the zip file accordingly.
EDIT: File has been updated to include a single 32x32.png (w/transparent background).

well, it seems to work. now I just need to find a kobold shamen/archer I've got a little mini vault nearby with the medusa in it though, so I might be a while.. first impressions though are good.. ooh, hang on.

just checked my "knowledge" and looked up kobolds and birds.. shamans, archers, and crebains all now show icons and I don't think they did before.

            so far, so good

great, but can we get these updated gfx files folded into the main download?

i think they haven't yet cause so few people use them and downloads used to be slow. in this day of broadband they might as well pack them in, not like anyone will bemoan a few seconds more to download.

Graphics are included by default, this was a request for the new graphics to be incorporated. I'll commit them shortly and they'll be in the next release.

ooh i thought the 8x8 and the 16x16 were included by default and you had to download the 32x32 seperately. was it like that at one time or is my memory going? it's sad when the memory goes

32x32 has been included for a long time. It doesn't take more than a few minutes, even on dialup IIRC. The real issue on dialup was the 54x54.bmp file for UnAngband. That took forever; PNG is sooo much better.

Good gods, you were downloading uncompressed BMP files? There's no good reason ever to do that.
