Minor update to vanilla 32x32 DVG graphics

I just played one my most successful Vanilla characters ever, and along the way noticed a few thing that could be fixed or improved. I hope the maintainers don't mind and should feel free to nab it for the next official release. I changed only three things.

    1. Added a graphic for the scroll of deep decent.
    2. Recolored the silent watcher.
    3. Recolored the drolem.

Completely untested. Let me know what you think, or what else needs to be done.

    You can get it here.
Next time you have an idle moment, do you fancy adding a buckler tile? That's currently the only thing stopping me adding bucklers.

What's the 32X32 tile set? Is it one of the sets available under the options menu?

None of them seemed very useful to me, possibly because my screen resolution is too high. It is much easier to tell what's going on when I keep it on ASCII. But is this 32x32 tile set different than the ones available with the game when I download it from rephial?

Yes. They already exist in object.txt (commented out). We just need tiles for them.

btw, am I the only person for whom some monsters are invisible? I'm currently playing 3.1.2 on the mac, but this has affected me for a while. some monsters, like kobold archers and shamers, crebains, ravans and crows to give a couple of low level examples don't seem to have tiles and I typically tend to find them when they attack me. I can only really locate them by using the 'l' key to 'look' for them.

              is it just me?

              cheers

You have an older 32x32.bmp (and mask32.bmp). These are all graphics that were added or revised at some point. Follow the link at the top of this thread (just because I know that it is complete). I'm not absolutely sure of the one posted here at oook.

EDIT: The file here at oook/download (BMP) is current and will solve your problem, but grabbing the one in this thread will gain you deep decent and green drolems, your choice.

hmm.. I just got the angband package, which I thought included all the latest tiles etc?

incidentally, I can't get that revised gfx link at the top to work, get a "can't initialise graphics" error.

                    Do Mac's use bmp's?

mac's as an OS physically support them yes. I can view the BMP and see the tiles. whether angband on the mac does I couldn't say thought I notice that the existing image tiles are png's.

The OS X and SDL ports use PNGs that were created from the BMPs a while ago. I'd like the Windows port to use them too, but I haven't a Windows machine for years and have no idea how to make that happen.

                          PNG file now available also.

@Magnate: I added the graphics for the buckler (0x80:0xe4) and gloves of mining (0x80:0xe5). You just need to add them into the prf when you implement them.

                          EDIT: and that makes 1000!

Interesting, is the Windows port the only one that uses them? Is there already a ticket for this?
