    New Olbie

Hi - I'm an old time Angband / Moria player - played it obsessively a while back but gave it up a decade or so ago. Going through old files reminded me of the game and I got a yearning to play it again.
I've downloaded 3.1.1.1626 from the site, but have a couple of questions, if you don't mind.
Level feelings: the spoilers seem out of date. Can anyone tell me what the level feeling 'You are unsure about this place' means? I thought it meant that I hadn't spent enough time on the previous level, but I sometimes get it even if I've completely cleared out the level before. I miss my stair scumming. It may be cheating, but I love clearing out a checkerboard vault (with a few reloads).
Second one is more spoilerish. I've seen rings of teleportation and escape that seem to give speed but are considered 'bad' - squelchable. If I allow the game to squelch 'bad' rings, are there other rings that I won't see that I might actually want to use?
Thanks, and thanks for keeping this great game going.

So, first of all, i hope you enjoy the forums. A lot of things have probably changed since you last played. Level feelings are broken 'You are unsure' is a bad feeling. You will have a lot of questions and a lot have been asked, so search for those. There are more 'bad' rings and only the +speed ones are worth it, and only until you have other speed. The tradeoff rings are interesting and flavorfull, but i recall after wearing a dog ring and leave mouse ones on the ground. Reckless atack rings are good if you do'nt have any usefull rings. Thanks for being on the forum.

"Bad" feelings just mean that there isn't much of "interest" on the level (with "interest" being somewhat poorly-determined by the game). The feeling you get from not spending enough time on the previous level is "Looks like any other level".

        Thanks guys.
Level feelings do seem a little off, now that you mention it. A not very interesting level had four uniques and I left with some very nice gear. Oh well.
