It's a fine version history page, it just makes no sense as a splash page. (Even the index page is better as an initial link.)

Then I misunderstood your post. It seemed as if you were reporting that something had corrupted it, but in fact your complaint is simply that it isn't good enough. (It doesn't look like a version history page at all to me, but never mind.)
