Do you turn on selling items, or not?

I personally really like being able to sell items, and I'm kind of baffled at why it's not default (at least not in the version I'm playing). Like, what's the point of finding dozens of spellbooks or prayerbooks if you're a Warrior and can't sell them?

The default is off, which I agree with. The game gives more $ in treasure found to compensate for lost income from not selling items. It is nice to not have to worry about lugging stuff back to the town just to sell it. And I don't miss haggling with the shop owners.

Selling off, because gold is marginally useful in the game. Early on you will use 99% of the items you find and later on you will ignore 99% of them.

Nice strategy. Personally, I like havving selling on so that I can can a little money back for giving unknown items to shopkeepers if they're useful. Also, in ZAgnband, the shopkeepers will pay you so much for any item, even if it's cursed or harmful, but maybe that makes the game too easy. Anyway, I'm glad that you've found a way to play the game that you enjoy.

I guess that's kinda fair. I'm glad you like playing the game your way, and that I personally enjoy playing it a different way. Perhaps for my next character, I'll consider having selling turned off.
