    Throwing !Life for damage

Has anyone ever thrown a !Life for damage? If the answer is "no", could the "can be thrown for damage" bit go away?

Apart from this, throwing potions for damage is not a bad idea; what if it worked for other potions too? I think this would be an interesting addition to the gameplay.

flasks of oil, potions of poision, and potions of detonations can all be thrown for great damage in various variants. i believe oil does decent damage in vanilla, too.

Potions of detonations have been removed pending the evolution of ID-by-use. There is an open ticket for making thrown potions do more, including decent grenade-style damage and effects like confusion etc.

Oil does superb damage since it was given BRAND_FIRE just before 3.1.1 was released. 2d6 tripled takes care of Maggot's dogs in one good hit, and two or three will take down Brodda.

Which makes me think - thrown potions of poison should have BRAND_POIS.

ToME does a decent job of throwable potions; most of the early bad potions are usable (Confusion, Slow, etc.). They explode into radius-2 balls of effect. The main problem with throwable potions is that conceptually, you're dousing the enemy in the contents of the potion; if the potion is beneficial, then dousing them in it at least shouldn't hurt them. What, are these potions for internal use only or something?

You might bring them back as vials of Detonation. Vials would be exactly like potions except you cant quaff them.

Especially if exploding healing potions in your inventory heals the monsters around you..
