    Vault editor?

    I'm wondering how the vault editor works. Does the room/rooms I create appear at random in the game once they are saved?

    What vault editor?
    If you want to edit the vaults, go into the edit files and modify the vault information in the appropriate file (or even create a new vault! Artifacts everywhere with no items... yess...). When you start Angband again, the raw files will be recomposed and your new vaults will be included into the game. They will be generated just like normal vaults.
    Normal vaults appear at random. It's that simple. For more, check the spoilers on vaults. There's tons of great info in there.

      Don't forget to delete the old raw files or you might get unexpected behavior.

        I thnk he means VIM-Vault Interacitve Modifier. It comes pre-installed on most Linux distributions. Just cd to .../lib/edit and try
        $ vim vaults.txt
        Then edit vaults to your heart's delight!

            Had no idea there was a vault editor. Wow.
            As for deleting the .raws, I never found it necessary. I've messed with the edit files so many times but I never had to delete the previous ones - Angband auto-recompiled them for me.
            Oh well.
