    Would you miss "self knowledge"?

In 3.1.1 there are no potions of self knowledge. This is deliberate - the new ID system should make them unnecessary.

The self knowledge effect still occurs when you quaff a potion of **enlightenment**, and you can still see your self knowledge from the knowledge menu (but without any magical enhancement, of course).

I'm thinking that the entire function is unnecessary now that the potions have gone. Just want to canvas views.

I don't use it. But I think it might be of some use for ironman players.

OTOH with the new ID system it is somewhat obsolete.

I just like seeing all my abilities (or whatever you call them) in a nice list form rather than looking at a bunch of asterisks sometimes. It's fun to read, but I wouldn't be particularly upset if it were removed.

I see no value to self knowledge since we can see the affects of brands and also have this lovely new resists interface.

I was inclined to vote that I don't like the new ID system, but I didn't vote because I haven't actually played 3.1.1 yet and I figured I should give it a chance. I'll try it soon and maybe I'll vote then.

In DaJAngband, I use the self-knowledge command to display some information that doesn't fit in the (C)haracter screens. Also, the potion of self knowledge shows you your exact luck rating which you can't see any other way.

          My old variant DaJAngband:
http://sites.google.com/site/dajangbandwebsite/home (defunct and so old it's forked from Angband 3.1.0 -I think- but it's probably playable...)

I say keep self knowledge in the menu 'cause it's neat, but if it's gone I won't miss it too much, I really don't use it anyway, so whatever happens happens.

I say the new ID system is great, and we may as well get rid of self knowledge. A little work on redoing the character screen display with more info might help ....

I liked self knowledge for giving that huge list of attributes to read. Its fun to see maybe 2x a game and **enlightenment** just makes sense to have it.

I'd say for Angband players it's useless. However, it might be useful for variants based on vanilla code. It's harmless, and it's a good way to offer a standard way of doing it for all the possible variants.
